Rep. Elik, the Chief Sponsor of five Senate bills, expressed gratitude towards colleagues for the unanimous passing of the bills through House committees. In a statement, Rep. Elik said, "I am very pleased that all five Senate bills I was Chief Sponsor of passed through House committees unanimously this week. Thank you to my colleagues for your support and I look forward to these bills passing on the House Floor and being signed into law."

One of the bills, Senate Bill 2987, focuses on improving student outcomes by amending the current school code to enhance school board member training. According to the bill, the training must cover information relevant to the duties of a school board member.

Another bill, Senate Bill 3430, addresses the Medicaid 5-year look-back period. It mandates the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to create an online guide explaining the 5-year look-back period for long-term care coverage eligibility, incorporating real-life examples for public understanding.

Senate Bill 3567, which amends the Truth in Taxation law, requires Truth in Taxation notices to be prominently displayed on taxing district websites for a minimum of 30 days. The bill also specifies the placement of the notice on the website for easy accessibility.

Additionally, Senate Bill 3571 mandates the presence of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at all school attendance centers and during school-sponsored activities after regular school hours on school grounds.

Lastly, Senate Bill 3566, amending the Environmental Protection Act, stipulates that landfills in counties with populations exceeding 250,000 must offer facilities to clean the wheels and undercarriages of departing vehicles starting January 1, 2025.
